Pembrook’s story began in 1976 in Dayton, Ohio, when Andy Klienhenz founded the company under the name Pants Makers. The business operated a network of retail stores throughout the Dayton area and manufactured its products locally in its own cutting and sewing facility.

Scott Dyer grew up in that factory, learning the business from the ground up while working alongside the people who built it. Those early experiences shaped his appreciation for quality craftsmanship, practical design, and creating products that customers can depend on.

In 2012, Scott acquired the company from its original founder and began its next chapter. He renamed the business Pembrook and transformed it from a regional apparel manufacturer into a modern consumer brand focused on e-commerce.
As the company evolved, Pembrook expanded its product offerings and transitioned manufacturing to trusted global partners, allowing the team to focus on product development, design, and quality while serving customers around the world.

Today, Pembrook is headquartered in Austin, Texas, where it specializes in diabetic and compression socks. The company sells more than 6 million pairs of socks each year, making Pembrook one of the largest specialty sock brands in the United States.

Nearly 50 years after its founding, Pembrook continues to be guided by the same principles that started the company in Dayton: make quality products, treat customers well, and build a business that’s here for the long haul.
